How much freezer space do I need?

A standard 24 lb package fits comfortably in most upright freezers. Larger 40+ lb packages may require a chest freezer or dedicated freezer drawer. As a rule of thumb, allow about 1 cubic foot per 35–40 lbs of frozen beef.
