This recipe makes the most of your incredible Waseda Farms brats with minimal fuss.

  • 1 large organic yellow onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 organic bell peppers (any color), thinly sliced

  • 1 jar of Wellness Found Organic Foods sauerkraut (or 1/2 head of fresh cabbage)

Pantry/Other:

  • 4 high-quality bratwurst buns

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/2 cup beer (or chicken/veg broth)

  • Salt and pepper

Must-Have Toppings:

  • Stone-ground mustard


 

Simple Steps:

 

  1. Sauté Veggies: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for 10-15 minutes until soft. If using fresh cabbage, add it now.

  2. Braze (Optional): Pour in the beer/broth. Simmer on low, covered, for 15-20 minutes until tender. (If using pre-made sauerkraut, warm it or serve cold).

  3. Grill Brats: Preheat grill to medium. Cook Waseda Farms Brats for 15-20 minutes, turning, until cooked through (160°F internal temp). Avoid piercing too much!

  4. Toast Buns: Lightly butter and toast buns on the grill or in a pan.

  5. Assemble: Place a brat in each bun. Top with braised veggies/sauerkraut and a generous dollop of stone-ground mustard.
