THL-Waseda Farms Scholarship

The Thomas H. Lutsey-Waseda Farms® Scholarship was established to help exemplary students with agricultural backgrounds and ambitions by affording them educational opportunities. The scholarship was established in recognition of farmer and businessman, Thomas H. Lutsey.

As a young milk farmer in rural Wisconsin during the 1930's, Mr. Lutsey began his quest to establish the ice cream novelty industry. Through the next 5 decades, equipped with creativity, self-determination, and an impeccable work ethic, he created and established Gold Bond Ice Cream, a business producing and distributing ice cream novelties across the United States and beyond.

Among Mr. Lutsey's convictions was a belief in the value of education. He felt worthy students, with agricultural backgrounds should be given the chance to continue learning and growing, with the hope that they would bring this knowledge back to their rural communities. With this idea in mind, he established a scholarship specifically for bright individuals from rural backgrounds to advance their education and the agriculture industry.

The Thomas H. Lutsey-Waseda Farms® Scholarship Committee determines recipients based on their scholastic achievement, financial need, and life aspirations. Eligible applicants must be pursuing a degree in a discipline related to rural life and agriculture. If you or someone you know is interested, please visit:
